Day 1: Arrival and Transfer
Your guide welcomes you at the airport of Yogyakarta. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Yogyakarta - Kebumen
After breakfast drive to Karangsambung (Kebumen) to see different spots of the oldest pretertiary melange rocks of Java and the layer with tertiary sediments laid above. Overnight in the base camp of the Geology campus. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Karangsambung and surroundings – Wonosobo
Spend the morning for further excursions in the area. At about noon drive to Wonosobo, situated at the foot of the Dieng Plateau. Overnight in Wonosobo. (B/L/-)

Day 4. Wonosobo – Dieng Plateau – Borobudur
Explore the Dieng Plateau, famous for its geothermic fields, hot mud basins, sulfators and hot springs. In the afternoon, drive back down along winding mountain roads to the plain and your hotel situated in the compound of the Buddhist Temple of Borobudur near Yogyakarta. (B/L/-)

Day 5: Borobudur Temple - Babadan (volcanic station) – Yogyakarta
Enjoy the sunrise at the terraces of Borobudur temple originating from the 9th/10th century. Your experienced special guides will explain the geological as well as the philosophical meaning of the manifestation of Buddhism carved in stone. Afterwards, visit the volcanic station at Babadan situated on the Western slopes of the fire volcano Merapi. Transfer to your hotel in Yogya. (B/L/D)

Day 6: Yogyakarta – Imogiri – Parangtritis
Yogyakarta, the cultural heart of Java, is awaiting you this morning. Visit the quiet, richly decorated Royal Mosque, the venerable Sultan’s palace and witness the skilful silver and batik handicraft producers.
In the afternoon drive to Parangtritis, a fascinating black sandy beach at the IndianOcean. Find the unique Barchan sand dunes. Enjoy the sunset in a hotel steeped in Javanese atmosphere and perched high on the cliffs overlooking the sea. (B/L/-)

Day 7: Yogya - Sangiran – Purwodadi
After visiting the largest Hindu temple complex outside of India, drive to the fossil museum of Sangiran housing the Pithecantropus Paleo Javanicos. Enjoy the “Eternal fire “ in Mrapen. Overnight in Purwodadi (B/L/-)

Day 8: Purwodadi - Todonan – Bulu – Rembang
Witness a mud volcano and salt sources Quartz sandstones are manifestations of oil respective gas resources. Overnight in Lasem (B/L/-)

Day 9: Rembang – Cepu
View a Miocene/Pliocene sediment series in a basin located behind a volcano. Overnight in Cepu. (B/L/D)

Day 10: Coup and surroundings
See the oldest oil fields of Java. Raw oil is still produced in a traditional way. Overnight in Cepu. (B/L/-)

Day 11: Cepu - Ngawi - Ponorogo
Explore tertiary sediment series near magma flows in form of cold stone formations. Overnight in Ponorogo (B/L/-)

Day 12: Ponorogo – Trenggalek – Tulungagung – Malang
See volcanic formations. Overnight in Malang. (B/L/-)

Day 13: Malang – Bromo
Visit the Hindu temple Singosari on your way to the Bromo – Semeru – National park. Experience the fascinating Madakaripura waterfall. Overnight in a nice hotel situated on the slopes of the park. (B/L/-)

Day 14: Bromo and surroundings
Drive to the view point Penanjakan in the early morning time of 3 o’clock. Enjoy fantastic views down to the Bromo volcano and the highest volcano of Java, Semeru, which expels clouds similar to atomic mushrooms every 15 minutes. You may also hike around the Bromo crater’s caldera ... an amazing experience. (B/L/-)

Day 15: Bromo – Ijen Plateau
Leaving the cool climate, travel down to the North coast of East Java. Reach the Ijen Plateau on slowly rising roads, passing forests and coffee plantations. Overnight in a simple accommodation. (B/L/D)

Day 16: Ijen Plateau – Bali
After a relatively easy ascent, reach the upper crater’s rim. A fantastic landscape with furrowed slopes, ground holes expelling sulphurous smoke and a turquoise-green coloured crater lake all combine to give an unforgettable impression. Watch men labouring under heavy loads as they carry baskets full of bright yellow sulphur up the steep paths. Transfer to your destination in Bali. (B/L/-)
