Our trip introduces you into the way of thinking and way of life of a generation of women at the threshold of traditional and modern life.
The women specific program comprises:
- Discussion with representatives of the Center for Women Studies at the University and a Women Crisis Center
- Visit to a child care and a public health center
- Introduction into batik and Javanese dance
- Overnight in a women’s Trappist Monastery
Further parts of the program are:
- Stroll through the vivid city of Yogyakarta
- Visit the world-famous impressive Buddhist temple of Borobodur
- Drive along the fertile slopes of the volcanoes Merapi and Merbabu to the to the women’s Trappist Monastery, visit a copper village
- Relax in Parangtritis, on the beach of the Queen of the Southern Sea
- Visit the royal graves of Imogiri and traditional Javanese medicine home industry
